Tony's
professional career began in the early 80's with 'Sebastian's Men'. Their
single release 'Horizon/Canvas of Slaughter' produced by Gil Norton, reached
no17 in the independent charts. The band toured extensively in the UK
and recorded a John Peel Session (details of the session can be found
on the bbc
radio 1 site). They stuck together for 3 years but gradually lost
momentum and disbanded in '84.
Tony went on to co-form the 16 Tambourines signing a major recording/publishing
contract with Arista/BMG, you can find out more about the 16 tambourines
by visiting www.16tambourines.com.
In the late 80's the '16 Tambourines' evolved into 'The Tambourines'.
The Tambourines got together in May 1990 adding two new members - Alan
Gillibrand and Mark Roberts and went on to release 2 Independent singles
'You're so Beautiful' and 'She Blows my Mind'. The band constantly toured
around England, adding various European dates along the way, through lack
of management the band folded in late '93.
After the Tambourines fizzled out Tony formed 'Catapult' a powerful 3
piece, with drummer Tony Potter and guitarist Steve Chan. Their release
'Everybody Gets there in the end' can
be found on the compilation album 'Tramspotting' and was adopted by a
North West radio station as an England World Cup song .....until England
lost! Music press at the time said they were 'small enough to fit in your
pocket, powerful enough to blow the national grid', sadly Catapult disbanded
1998.
After Catapult ended, Tony entered into several writing projects,
started a Musical Performance course for young people in Liverpool and
turned his talents to producing music for TV and Radio. His current projects
are shown on the Catapult Enterprises web site,
and include song writing partnership Elliott Davis, Catacoustic
and the Whitebridge record label, the 1st release being 'Catacoustic
Overtones' a compilation of the best unsigned Merseyside artists.
